Sharon's Introduction

        Hi Everyone,

I know a lot about you and now it’s time to tell you some more about me.

As a child growing up in a small village in northern Canada, I dreamed about meeting people from other countries and finally I got the chance to do so when I moved to the United States to become a flight attendant for a large airline.

After several years of flying I got married and decided to stay on the ground. For many years I worked in high tech as a marketing support manager and product development manager.

When my husband retired (the first time) I opened up a small wholesale and retail business with two locations in the Boston area. But I missed meeting people from other cultures.

At the time I was also doing some volunteer work in teaching non-native speakers to speak and write in English. I really enjoyed this work so I went back to school to get my certification in teaching English as a foreign language. I then decided to study some more and got my certification in teaching business English.

Along the way I entered Harvard University where I got my master’s degree in education with a concentration in adult teaching and learning.

As you know I am presently teaching academic English to native speakers at the University of Phoenix in addition to my teaching position at EF.

There are also many other interests that take up my time. In addition to travel, I love children and animals.

For several years I was a summer tour guide in Europe and Canada. There are some beautiful pictures of the Rocky Mountains at patandron.blogspot.com/

Oops, sorry this link didn't take. It's worth a cut and paste if you'd like to see some great pictures.

My husband and I have been involved in animal rescue for over twenty years. You can read about Molly (scroll down to the bottom of the blog) and Holling at
http://sharonsmolly.blogspot.com/ Holling has his own blog at http://holling.blogspot.com/ where he is helping to teach children in Brazil to learn English.

Holling shares his bed and home with 6 cats. If you’re interested in reading about how Holling came to live with us, you can see more at http://erikacruvinel.podomatic.com/ scroll down to the post titled “Meet Sharon’s dog Holling – Woof! Woof!"

I think that’s about enough for now. You can open an account here at Podomatic and send me an audio message.
